Web Hosting

The service that stores your website files on a server and makes them accessible on the internet 24/7.

Web Hosting

Web hosting is a service that stores your website's files (HTML, CSS, images, database) on a computer (called a server) that is connected to the internet at all times.

When someone types your domain name into a browser, their browser connects to your web hosting server and downloads your website files to display the page.

Types of Web Hosting

  • Shared hosting — Your site shares a server with hundreds of other sites. Cheapest ($3–$15/mo) but slowest.
  • VPS hosting — Virtual private server with dedicated resources. Middle ground ($20–$80/mo).
  • Managed WordPress — Hosting optimized specifically for WordPress ($25–$100/mo).
  • Dedicated server — An entire physical server just for you ($80–$300/mo).
  • Cloud hosting — Distributed across multiple servers (AWS, Google Cloud). Scales automatically.
